The Wildlife Society Annual Conference

The Wildlife Society Annual Conference has submission deadlines around May/June. It is usually held in October, but in the past has occasionally been held in September or November.

Description: The Wildlife Society Annual Conference is one of the largest meetings of wildlife professionals in the U.S.  The conference features full-day workshops on a variety of topics, while the organized field trips can be a great way to have fun while meeting other students, researchers and professionals.

The Human Dimensions Work Group is of particular interest.  Many section groups, like the Human Dimensions Work Group, host meetings and receptions throughout the conference. These events are a great way to connect with colleagues who share your interests and educational backgrounds.

The Wildlife Society also offers student travel grants of up to $500.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • A member of The Wildlife Society
  • A current student, or recent graduate (degree received during the current or previous year)
  • Senior author and presenter of a paper or poster accepted by the Program Committee, the organizer of a TWS-sanctioned symposium, special poster session, or the Student Research-in-Progress Poster Session
  • Not a recipient of a Student Travel Grant in previous year

There’s also a Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society at The Ohio State University.
